Who shall we invite?
Shopping centres are mostly interested in medical centres with very narrow focus, which would take a rather small space and provide for a significant increase in people flow. They can be small dental rooms, massage rooms, medical aesthetic clinics, which become a successful addition to the pool of tenants while avoiding causing problems with the day-to-day life of a shopping centre, unlike bigger clinics with wider assortments of services, which would require special conditions to place complicated medical equipment.
As a rule, a shopping centre is the right place for express diagnostics of skin health and eyesight, which can be carried out on a small open-space area of a shopping gallery or in a medical centre. It can be done within a marketing campaign, which is a part of common practice in Moscow and regional shopping centres. For example, dental and skin care clinic Confident residing in Vegas Crocus City takes part in annual charity event Melanoma day.
Taking into account the fast advances of medical technology, we can expect product-line expansion, such as follow up and support for chronic disease, for example, which would not disturb the routine life of shopping centres. North America has seen a boom in dental bleaching and massage services in shopping centres, which can be predicted to spring in Russia in the near future as well.
Another way to develop this idea further, which has been widely discussed lately, is adding medical coworking spaces. There are only a few such examples in Russia. One of the first such projects was opened in Skolkovo with a laboratory for startups in biotechnology and medicine for 12 – 15 teams of young scientists to work at the same time. “Similar centres exist in technological parks of the USA and Western Europe. The startup jobs are expected to be financed by large pharmaceutical companies interested in their R&D. Back in 2016, Bayer started its own coworking for med-startups. They picked teams providing services and solutions for telemedicine health care services and digital health,” tells Konstantin Korolev, head of coworking GrowUp.
